Omar Rauf Appointed as Director General – Telecom at Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan

Omar Rauf has stepped into the role of Director General – Telecom at the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan, bringing over two decades of global telecom leadership and deep expertise in network performance, RF design, and next-generation technologies.

With extensive experience across 2G, 3G, LTE, and 5G ecosystems, he has led large-scale network planning, optimization, and rollout initiatives across international markets. Prior to this, he served as Director Telco and Cloud Services at VaporVM, where he worked on advanced 5G, Open RAN, and AI-driven network solutions, contributing to innovation in cloud native telecom infrastructure.

His leadership journey also includes key roles at stc Kuwait, Nokia, and strategic advisory engagements, where he consistently delivered high-impact network transformation and performance excellence.
