Marka-e-Haq Lessons to Be Included in School Curriculum
A key decision has been taken to incorporate themes of patriotism and the Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth) into the educational curriculum, following a high-level meeting of the Information Steering Committee chaired by Azma Bukhari.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Information Secretary Tahir Raza Hamdani, the Additional Secretary Home, the Deputy Secretary Finance, and the Director General Public Relations. Participants reached a consensus on promoting national values by integrating relevant topics into academic content across educational institutions.
During the session, it was agreed that subjects highlighting patriotism and the Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth) would be formally included in the curriculum. Authorities were also directed to organise related programmes in private educational institutions to reinforce these themes among students.
The committee further decided to produce films under a government-backed funding initiative focusing on the Marka-e-Haq and national unity. In addition, a drama based on the life of Liaquat Ali Khan is also planned as part of efforts to promote historical awareness and national identity.
A large-scale public awareness campaign will also be launched to strengthen unity and social cohesion. Participants emphasized the importance of outreach initiatives and requested that Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) continue educational visits to institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Azma Bukhari announced that the Information and Home Departments would jointly establish a special monitoring cell to identify individuals spreading hateful content on social media and ensure prompt action against those involved in promoting hate.
She further directed authorities to intensify action against hate speech in view of Muharram, stressing that no form of provocation or hate-mongering would be tolerated during the holy month. The proposed monitoring cell will also ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information to the public.
