Rehmat Hasnie’s tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) concluded on August 21, 2026, following the completion of his final two-week extension granted by the federal government. The development comes as the government continues its search for a new President and CEO for the state-owned bank.

NBP notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange that Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure had officially expired on August 21. His latest extension, approved on August 6 and effective from August 7, was set to remain in place for two weeks or until the appointment of a new President and CEO, whichever occurred earlier.

Rehmat Hasnie was formally appointed as NBP President in August 2023 after serving as Acting President since May 2022. He joined NBP in 2010 and previously held leadership roles across investment banking, corporate banking, and priority sector lending, contributing extensively to the bank’s strategic and business operations.
