Asif Meenai Joins as Head of IT Goverance and Security at Qatar Islamic Bank

Asif Meenai has taken on the role of Head of IT Governance and Security at Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Doha, bringing with him nearly three decades of distinguished leadership across multinational and national banking institutions. His career reflects deep expertise in information and cyber security, IT governance, technology risk, and enterprise wide controls.

Prior to joining QIB, he served as General Manager and Chief Information Security Officer at HBL, where he led global information security, IT governance, internal controls, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001 implementations for one of the region’s largest banking networks. His earlier leadership roles include Executive Vice President and CISO at National Bank of Pakistan, along with nearly two decades at Citi, where he held senior regional responsibilities across Pakistan, Egypt, and the Middle East.

With a strong foundation in governance frameworks, risk management, and large scale technology operations, Asif Meenai is well positioned to strengthen QIB’s security posture and governance maturity at an enterprise level.
