Dr. Sidra Tariq Jamil Appointed as Dean of the School of Media & Communication Studies at University of Management and Technology

Dr. Sidra Tariq Jamil has been appointed as Dean, School of Media and Communication Studies (SMCS) at the University of Management and Technology – UMT, Lahore. In this leadership role, she is set to strengthen academic excellence, advance strategic communication education, and foster industry-academia collaboration in media and communication studies.

A distinguished communications expert, diplomat, and academic leader, Dr. Sidra brings extensive international experience across strategic communications, policy analysis, and management consulting. She previously served as Communications Expert at ICESCO, a specialized organization of the OIC, where she also established the Center for Civilizational Dialogue and served as its Acting Director. Notably, she holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani woman appointed to ICESCO since its inception.

Alongside her academic leadership, Dr. Sidra continues to contribute globally as a Senior Analyst and Management Consultant with Solaris Management Advisors, and as an Independent Consultant with the Aga Khan Centre, London. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Journalism and Communication from Tsinghua University, where she became the first Pakistani woman to earn a doctorate in the discipline, complemented by an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Quaid-i-Azam University.

Dr. Sidra’s appointment reflects UMT’s commitment to academic leadership, global engagement, and thought leadership in media, communication, and strategic discourse.
