K-Electric to Provide Dedicated Power for BYD-MMC EV Plant
K-Electric (KE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD’s local partner in Pakistan, to provide a dedicated 5MW power connection, scalable up to 7.5MW, for the company’s new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing plant.
Reliable Power for BYD’s EV Production in Pakistan
Under the agreement, MMC will develop and finance the dedicated power infrastructure, with facilitation and technical support from K-Electric, ensuring a reliable and flexible electricity supply as production capacity expands. The BYD-MMC EV plant is expected to begin operations in 2026.
The partnership aims to support automated, technology-driven manufacturing processes, aligned with global operational and sustainability standards.
Supporting Clean Energy and Industrial Growth
KE Chief Executive Moonis Alvi stated that the agreement reflects growing confidence among global manufacturers in K-Electric’s ability to support high-demand industrial operations. He reaffirmed KE’s commitment to delivering scalable power solutions, enabling industrial growth, and supporting Pakistan’s clean energy transition.
BYD Pakistan’s Vision for Sustainable Mobility
Aly Khan, Chief Executive of BYD Pakistan–Mega Motor Company, said the company aims to lead Pakistan’s transition toward sustainable mobility by introducing global NEV technology, localising manufacturing, and developing long-term industrial ecosystems.
He emphasized that the partnership with K-Electric is essential for operating at international manufacturing standards, scaling production, and encouraging greenfield investment aligned with Pakistan’s long-term economic and environmental goals.

According to K-Electric, the MoU establishes a long-term strategic collaboration focused on:

- 3- Industrial and technological development
This agreement is part of a broader series of KE partnerships with the private sector, aimed at supporting Pakistan’s industrialisation, particularly for technology-led industries that require dependable and scalable power supply.
