Pakistani Designer Mehreen Gondal Recognized for Cultural Innovation at Expo 2025 Osaka

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) – Expo 2025 Cell has honoured Mehreen Gondal, Lead Interior Designer and Founder of Ocean Design Studio, for her remarkable contribution to the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

Her creative concept, blending Pakistan’s vibrant truck art with Japanese anime and design elements, offered a powerful visual dialogue between tradition and innovation. Mehreen collaborated with local Pakistani truck artists, empowering them to showcase their craftsmanship on a global platform.

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by promoting cultural sustainability and creative empowerment.

“This recognition is a tribute to Pakistan’s artisans and their incredible creativity,” said Mehreen Gondal. “Through this project, we aimed to bridge cultures and present Pakistan’s artistic identity with pride and purpose.”
