Pakistani Students to Get Instant Online Degree Verification Soon
Students in Pakistan may soon verify their academic degrees without office visits or physical documents, as the Higher Education Commission prepares to fully digitize the attestation process.
According to Ary News, HEC has approved the final plan to integrate blockchain technology into the national degree verification system, aiming to make the process faster, more transparent, and entirely online. Acting Chairman Nazir Mahmood has directed the team to complete the project on priority and ensure rapid rollout.
Under the new framework, records from 25 universities that have fully adopted ERP systems will be automatically connected to the blockchain. Graduates from these institutions will not need to submit any documents, since their verified degrees will be uploaded directly to HEC’s secure blockchain network. Access to these records will be available through the HEC portal.
For universities without ERP implementation, graduates will be able to submit their degrees and transcripts online. Once verified by the relevant institution, their records will also be added to the blockchain.
The blockchain based system will ensure that verification records are fully digital, secure, and tamper proof. Once approved, degrees will be permanently stored, allowing government bodies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies, and private organizations to instantly authenticate credentials.
HEC officials noted that this transformation will make degree attestation completely paperless, automated, and transparent, removing the need for manual stamps or physical submissions. The new online system is expected to go live within six months, offering students and institutions a faster and more secure verification process.
