Senior Microbiologist – Food Industry

Key Responsibilities:

• Microbiological Testing: Oversee and perform testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished food products, and environmental swabs (Pathogens, TVC, Yeast & Mold, Coliforms).
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with food safety management systems (HACCP, ISO 22000, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000).
• Lab Management & Method Validation: Lead laboratory operations, validate new microbiological testing methods, calibrate lab equipment, and maintain strict GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).
• Root Cause & Trend Analysis: Conduct investigations into non-conformances, out-of-specification (OOS) results, and customer complaints related to microbial quality.
• Audit Preparation: Drive internal and external food safety audits, regulatory inspections, and sanitation validation programs.
• Team Leadership: Train and mentor junior microbiologists and QA/QC lab technicians on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and sterile techniques.

Requirements:

• Education: BS / MS / M.Sc. in Microbiology, Food Science & Technology, or a related discipline.
• Experience: 5–6+ years of hands-on microbiological testing experience within the food & beverage manufacturing industry.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of foodborne pathogens, hygiene monitoring, environmental monitoring programs (EMP), and regulatory food standards.
• Certifications: HACCP, PCQI, or ISO 22000 certifications are strongly preferred.
