Jawwad Ahmed Cheema Appointed as New CEO of Pakistan State Oil

Pakistan State Oil has appointed Jawwad Ahmed Cheema as its Chief Executive Officer for a 3 years term, effective May 18, 2026. He succeeds interim CEO Abdus Sami, marking a key leadership transition for the organization.

The appointment, approved by PSO’s Board of Directors and disclosed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange – PSX, reflects strong confidence in Jawwad Ahmed Cheema’s extensive industry experience and strategic leadership capabilities.

With over 28 years of experience in the energy sector, including 26 years with Shell, he has held senior leadership roles across Asia, Europe, and South Asia. He previously served as CEO of Shell Pakistan and most recently led operations at the Karachi Hydrocarbon Terminal, bringing deep expertise in retail fuels, supply chain management, strategy, and global operations.

In his new role, he is expected to lead PSO’s strategic direction, strengthen operational performance, and drive growth across the organization, further reinforcing its position in Pakistan’s energy landscape.
